The Arbeitsstelle Holocaustliteratur at the University in Gießen is a interdisciplinary institution that works with literature about the Holocaust and concentration camps scientifically and didactically. A main focus is on texts of survivors of the Holocaust. One of the central tasks is to make sure that these texts are preserved for the coming generations and are available for use in science, schools and for the general public. In the near future the survivors will not be able to tell their stories any more. It is therefore in our interest to preserve these texts.
The activites and projects of the Arbeitsstelle include literary editions and scientific research as well as offering courses about Holocaust Literature, workshops and excursions to memorials.
